Scranton, what? The Electric City!

Cue music!

Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam! Your favourite travelers are visiting Scranton, PA, for a little taste of The Office vibe! 🤪 Yes, we know it was shot in California, but there are PLENTY of cool hangout spots for the fans to make their pilgrimage right here, in the OG Scranton. We were fangasming quite hard at this point, especially when we saw the huge "The Electric City" painting near the entrance of town. So the famous sign from The Office opening is not out there anymore, but it is possible to get your picture with it at the Scranton town mall! The decals of The Office characters are not there anymore, however (think they were taken down late 2018).

If you're a fan of the show, you can't miss out on a meal at Cooper's Seafood House. Heck, even if you're not a fan of the show, this place is amazing! Not only was the theme totally on point, the food was delicious (and affordable), too. It really felt as if we were eating lunch on an old boat.

You definitely can't miss the souvenir shop on your way out. This is the perfect place to get your Office swag like name tags, mugs, shirts, games, or posters. Or some Dundee Award trophies. 🏆

Just driving through Scranton was a lot of fun. We felt like we had been there so many times before, and YES! They still have the Dunder Mifflin sign on the Pennsylvania Paper Tower, so that was a really nice surprise. Anybody recognize that store entrance on Vine Street? 🤪

Other mandatory stops on our Office Fan Tour were of course the famous Poor Richard's Pub (we were there just a little too early to enjoy a beer, though), and Alfredo's Pizza—NOT Pizza by Alfredo. There's a HUGE difference in both quality of ingredients and overall taste. (S4 E4)

We also enjoyed a little Halloween vibe on our way north from Scranton after our visit. I believe this was at Applebee's, and look at that great Stranger Things decoration on the wall!

And that was our very last stop before going back to the in-laws' place to end the trip. It was a bittersweet farewell, as I would gladly have kept travelling around for another month, but then New Zealand awaited us... and to be honest, hubby thought we'd been on the road for long enough. We ended up surprising the in-laws by arriving 2 days earlier than expected, and boy were they happy! 🥰

For the next post, before I move on to writing about our extraordinary time in New Zealand, I'll do a kind of post-mortem thing with fun facts and random stats from our trip, just for the fun of it. Stay tuned, folks! 💜

TL;DR: Scranton, PA, might be small, but it's packed with fun times for Office fans! 📃🖨️ Even though the series was shot in L.A., there are still plenty of spots to make your pilgrimage worth it: the Steamtown Mall (for a selfie with the Welcome to Scranton sign), Cooper's Seafood House, the Pennsylvania Paper Tower, Poor Richard's Pub, and Alfredo's Pizza.
