After leaving Writing-on-Stone park, we drove through some really heavy rainfall to get to a very unique little place called Devil's Coulee. In 1997, ten fossilized dinosaur eggs were found there, and the free to visit Devil's Coulee Dinosaur & Heritage Museum in the little town of Warner had quite a unique fossil: a reconstructed Hadrosaur embryo! They call it Charlie (we can't know if it's a boy or a girl), and it's made up of many embryonic remains from the same nest. The egg you see below is even bigger than an ostrich egg, so the embryo is actually quite impressive (it's around 18 inches long).

There were a lot of other cool fossils there, including a full nest and some dinosaur egg shell fragments, as you can see below:
There were not only fossils related to nests and baby dinosaurs, though, so we saw a lot of marine fossils and other great specimens.
After this cool little visit, we had a completely different stop planned: the town of Vulcan, where fans of Star Trek gather once a year in a huge Trekker convention. We were quite tired when we got there, so we got a hotel room across from the main attraction of the town and just chilled for the evening. The next day started off with a tour of the Visitor Centre, where all kinds of props and pictures from Star Trek were displayed. There was also a little gift shop, and hubby was very happy to find a few pins with his favourite characters on them. They also had a green screen and costumes for you to play with, but we decided not to do that. You should, though, if you're a real fan of the show, cause it looked like fun!
We also realized as we were walking to the Enterprise that they have mini Enterprise ships on their street lamps! And just how cool is that ship that welcomes you into the town? We had lots of fun taking pictures as you can see.
And with that, we were off again on the Dinosaur Trail, this time driving to Dinosaur Provincial Park. But that's for another blog! Stay tuned, folks! 💜
TL:DR; The little museum in Devil's Coulee was definitely worth the stop, as it has one of the most complete embryonic fossils, and it's impressive! The museum has all kinds of unique specimens, and it's free to visit. As for the town of Vulcan, it's a definite "must see" if you like Star Trek. There are a lot of great photo ops there, and you'll surely find a great souvenir in the Visitor Centre! And on that note, live long and prosper. 🖖
