Hollywood, Florida, and seeing family

See, I have a great-uncle in Hollywood, Florida, so we kind of had to go to Florida even if we'd been plenty of times before. Well, getting there from New Orleans was a pretty good drive. Lucky for us, our Airbnb hosts suggested a great scenic route (US-90) for part of the trip to make it more enjoyable. If you want to know (even if you don't), the drive was a bit more than 13 hours.

We drove right along the Gulf of Mexico, and we saw plenty of stilt houses. They look so cool! There were also really big restaurants (the last two pictures) and shops on stilts, in Louisiana and Mississipi.

As we were driving on I-10, we also spotted the USS Alabama Battleship, but after visiting a submarine and an aircraft carrier, we didn't feel like stopping here. It looks amazing, though! Apart from that, it was more and more driving along the Gulf, but hey, it wasn't so bad. Lots of beaches and palm trees on the way. 🌴🏖️ We ended up having dinner and sleeping in Tallahassee, which meant we'd be in Hollywood the next afternoon.

We spent two days with my great-uncle, eating out at his favourite places, looking at pictures from our previous trips, and all. On the second day, though, he really wanted us to go check out the new hotel they were building... turns out it's a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino! Shaped like a freaking guitar! 🤩 🤘🎸

Needless to say, we were pretty impressed, even after visiting Vegas. The guitar hotel part wasn't ready yet when we were there, but we could still check out the collection and the casino. Hubby was really excited when he found Till Lindemann's suit (from Rammstein)! There was also one of Katy Perry's dresses, a guitar signed by all members of Korn, a costume from one of Madonna's video clips... Yeah, we really enjoy all those Hard Rock places.

And to top it all off, no visit to my family in Florida would be complete without a dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, where the menu is longer than your daily newspaper! 🤤

And because hubby has never been to the "Happiest Place on Earth", well, we just had to go to Orlando... Stay tuned, folks! 💜

TL;DR: Driving between Louisiana and Florida is long, but US-90 made it more scenic! You could stop visit the USS Alabama Battleship on the way, eat in a stilt restaurant, and check out the collection of memorabilia or sleep at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
